  • THE BALL

Our members plan and host the annual ASJL Cotillion Ball in conjunction with Mardi Gras season. The members help to select decor, plan the ceremony and help select the music, theme and ticket design. The 2025 ASJL Cotillion Ball is February 1, 2025 at the Foley Civic Center.

. During this elegant event, our members are introduced to the community and are recognized for outstanding accomplishments. In our purpose of preserving traditions, our member ladies wear white formals with long white gloves, and our gentlemen wear tuxedos.

Social dance is not a part of the regular meetings for members, however, there is one mandatory rehearsal day for members and escorts to learn a Grand March and Waltz which is part of the ball ceremony. Members choose an escort for the ball. Escorts are not required to be members of the society but must be approved by the board. Escort gentlemen must wear tuxedos and escort ladies must wear floor length gowns which cannot be white. Members wear sashes to the ball so that they can be recognized as members.
